The Show

Ten days ago the question was "when is sound music?" This afternoon, six people answer it with instruments that did not exist last week, performed live, on devices that were in their pockets all along — at a show whose name the cohort chose for itself, through the A2 forms.

10:00 — Final Fixes

Bugs only — no features, no refactors (the 21:00 rule from last night holds all morning). Documentation gaps close now: the video is shot, the one-pager is finished, the live URL is verified from a phone that is not yours, on mobile data, not the studio Wi-Fi — that is the test that catches what the room hides.

11:30 — Full Rehearsal

The complete running order, real cables, real levels, timed. Each act rehearses its one-line spoken intro too — name the instrument, name the gesture, then play. Note between acts: who unplugs what, who resets which phone. The reset choreography is part of the show.

14:30 — The Performance

Doors open to invited guests. Posters on the wall. Each act: intro, sixty-plus seconds of performance, applause — earned. Cabled acts through the monitors; distributed pieces from phone speakers around the room. If the ensemble piece exists, it closes the afternoon: six phones, one room, one downbeat — however the cohort chose to keep time.

Performance start and end times are logged, truly, to the minute — the record of the workshop's founding rule, kept to its final afternoon.

15:45 — Open Floor

The audience becomes the orchestra: QR codes scanned, every instrument in stranger's hands at once. This is A3's 30-second test running live, at scale — and the loveliest fifteen minutes of the fortnight. Watch what they do with what you made; write one of them down, with a timestamp, for the record.

16:15 — Reflection, and What Stays

A circle, at last. Three questions around the room:

1. Play back Day 1's axis exercise in your head — has your line between sound and music moved? Where is it now?
2. What did the constraint you fought hardest — the scale-lock, the sensor that wouldn't obey, the feature you cut — end up giving you?
3. Your instrument outlives the workshop: the URL stays up. Who do you send it to first?
